Keri Thomas, 20, of Dorrance Township plays the piano, organ and flute. Here,
she plays the piano at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wright Township. Keri
Thomas, 20, of Dorrance has been playing the piano for 14 years. She began
taking lessons at age 6 under the direction of Donna Walters. She also plays
the organ and the flute and has turned her talent into a mini profession.
Thomas has been the choir director and organist at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
in Wright Township for more than five years and the organist at St. Mary’s
Church in Dorrance Township for the past two years. Thomas, the daughter of
Bill and Cheryl Thomas, started out as a substitute pianist and organist seven
years ago. She has successfully competed in numerous local and state piano
competitions and was a featured pianist at the Luzerne County Courthouse
during the Christmas season. On Christmas Eve this year at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, Thomas recorded her organ music so that she could accompany
it with her flute, making a surprising and delightful number. Thomas is a
junior at Bloomsburg University, where she is majoring in speech pathology.
