The driver and passenger of a Ford Escort were injured in a three-vehicle
crash involving a tractor-trailer and a garbage truck about 10 a.m. Monday on
state Route 92 in Exeter Township , police said. The victims were trapped in
the car for about 45 minutes while emergency crews worked to extract them.
Neither police nor a spokeswoman at Community Medical Center, Scranton, would
release the names of the victims. Both were listed in critical condition, a
hospital spokeswoman said. Police said details of the crash would not be
released until this morning. The crash occurred just north of Route 92 and
Apple Tree Road. That portion of the road remained closed for most of the day.
