January 24, 2000 ohn V. Shulzitski, of Noyes Avenue, Swoyersville, died Monday
at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the
late John and Lillian (Janczewski) Shulzitski. He was associated with
Friedman’s Express, Wilkes-Barre, for 38 years before retiring in 1976. He was
a member of St. Hedwig’s Church, Kingston, and was past president of the
parish Holy Name Society. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Assumpta
Council 3987, Luzerne, and the Fourth Degree. He was preceded in death by his
first wife, the former Cecelia Kuboski; son, John, Jr.; brothers, Leo
Shulzitski and Frank Meren; and sister, Jean Ostrowski. Surviving are his
second wife, the former Dorothy Keller; daughters, Betty Lodeski, Pawley’s
Island, S.C.; and Dorothy Keefe, Wilkes-Barre; son, William F. Keller, West
Wyoming; several grandchildren; brother, Edward Meren, Wilmington, Del.;
sister, Lillian Trudnak, Edwardsville; nieces and nephews. Funeral services
will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Kopicki Funeral Home, Kingston, with a Mass
of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Hedwig’s Church. Interment will be in
St. John’s Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society of Wyoming Valley, or the American Heart Association of
Northeastern Pennsylvania, both in Wilkes-Barre.
