January 25, 2000 avid A. Grimes, 74, of Dan Flood Towers, Kingston, died
Tuesday at HCR ManorCare, Kingston. Born April 5, 1925, in Kingston, he was a
son of the late Maurice J. and Mary (Hurley) Grimes. He was a 1943 graduate of
Kingston High School, and a graduate of Wyoming Seminary Dean School of
Business, the University of Delaware and the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European
Theater. He was formerly associated with Grimes Auto Glass. He was a member of
St. Ignatius Parish Community, Kingston; Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of
Greater Wilkes-Barre; Veterans of Foreign Wars Anthracite Post 283, Kingston;
and Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 9. He was a past commander of American
Legion Post 395, Kingston; and until his death, treasurer of the Penn State
Club of Wyoming Valley. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years,
Margaret Houston Grimes. Surviving are his sons, David M., M. Joseph and
James, all of Kingston; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and
brother, Joseph, Dallas. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday from
McLaughlin Funeral Service, Kingston, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St.
Ann’s Chapel, Kingst~on. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 this evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made to the Residents Council of HCR ManorCare.
