January 25, 2000 dward Buranich, 59, a guest of Valley Crest Nursing Home,
Plains Township, formerly of Pittston, died Tuesday at Wilkes-Barre General
Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born June 9, 1940, in Pittston, he was a son
of the late Adam and Mary (Shoback) Buranich. He attended Pittston schools. He
worked for Hughey Trucking, Tunkhannock. He was preceded in death by his
brother, Robert. Surviving are his wife, the former Julianna Grochal;
daughters, Kathy and Lori Ann; sisters, Kathy, Easton; and Mary Ann,
Mountaintop; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday
from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home, Inc., Duryea, with a Mass of
Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea. The Rev. Charles
Rokosz will officiate. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Duryea.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday.
