January 26, 2000 Elaine (Laskaris) Demas, 82, formerly of Washington Square
Apartments, Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at Dorrance Manor, Kingston. Born
March 10, 1917, in Johnstown, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and
Clara (Cusick) Laskaris. She formerly owned and operated the Hart Restaurant,
Wilkes-Barre, and worked in the local garment industry. She was a former
member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre; the Order of
the Eastern Star, Chapter 90; and the Daughters of Penelope. She was preceded
in death by her brothers, George, James and Theodore; and sisters, Marie Crane
and Georgia Laskaris. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Funeral services will
be at 2 p.m. Friday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre. The Rev.
George Dimopoulos, of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, will officiate.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call
from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre.
