HAZLETON – Two Hazleton police officers were suspended three days for
helping former Mayor Michael Marsicano move out of his home while they were
off duty, said a source in city government.
The source, who would only speak on the condition of anonymity, said
Patrolman Gregory Rossi and Lt. Stephen M. Whiteko were disciplined in
connection with the Jan. 15 incident.
According to a court order stemming from a protection-from-abuse order
filed by Marsicano’s wife, Lanora Marsicano, two on-duty officers were
required to be present when Michael Marsicano removed his possessions.
The Police Department sent two on-duty officers to the home that day.
In court papers, she alleged her husband beat her at least four times since
1996. She also said her husband told her that “because of his position as
mayor, he told me he had control of the law and I could do nothing,” she
wrote. “He also told me that he would hurt me if I ever told anyone.”
