January 25, 2000 tanley A. Baran, formerly of Nanticoke, died Tuesday at
Hampton House, Hanover Township. Born in Alden, he was a son of the late
Michael and Mary (Skopek) Baran. He worked at the Duplan Silk Mill, McGregor
Sportswear and at the time of his retirement at St. Stanislaus Medical Center.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Nanticoke, and was past president of the
parish Holy Name Society. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former
Mary Winarski; and brother, Andrew. Surviving are his daughters, Yvonne
Tranell, Dallas; and Rosalie Baran, Pittston; son, Raymond, Plantsville,
Conn.; two grandchildren; sisters, Sally Legins, Nanticoke; and Helen
Robacheski, Alden; brothers, Ted and Edward, both of Nanticoke; Alex,
Downingtown; and Frank, Alden. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday
from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian
Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in Holy Trinity
Cemetery, Newport Township. Friends may call from 5 to 8 this evening. The
Holy Name Society will recite the rosary at 7:30 this evening.
