A Larksville woman is taken out of her East State Street home after she was
burned severely at about 2 p.m. Wednesday while cooking. Stella Danielczyk was
burned on about 60 to 70 percent of her body, said Fire Chief Andrew Kachmar.
She was taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, then transferred by helicopter
to a burn center, he said. Her condition was unavailable Wednesday night.
Kachmar said the woman, who is believed to be in her 70s, was cooking when her
clothing caught fire. He said Danielczyk ran to her bathroom to douse the
flames under the shower, but fell. He said parts of the bathroom also caught
fire.
