I HAVE A question for all the Fan Fare Flyers fans. How much of an impact do
you think Keith Primeau will make to the Flyers with his first game? I HAVE TO
laugh at the responses criticizing Jerry Kellar’s article on Rene Portland and
her family. I myself was appalled by her family’s behavior. Yes, it is a free
country, but use common sense, especially when you’re the head coach of Penn
State’s girls basketball team. That’s a slap in the face of Jerry Dunn and
Penn State athletics. I would try to get rid of her at any cost. Penn State
doesn’t need a turncoat like her and thanks Jerry Kellar for the story and
information. I still can’t believe it. IN REGARDS TO Jerry Kellar’s article
about Rene Portland: I applaud him for this article. In fact, there was an
article very similar to this in Blue and White Illustrated, also agreeing with
his position. Yes, it is true that you have the right to root for anyone you
want, to but when you are the son and husband of a prominent women’s
basketball coach, you also have a certain responsibility to support the school
that employs your mother. I feel that if Mrs. Portland and her family feel
such a close bond with Indiana and Bobby Knight, they should be put on the
first bus to Indiana. It is nice there this time of year. FOR ALL YOU people
out there complaining about Penn State and saying they did stupidity by
signing Joe Paterno for another five years, let me tell you something: You
guys are all wrong. Joe Paterno is a legend at Penn State, he will always be a
legend and when you have the greatest coach college football has ever seen,
then you should have something to brag about. So all you Notre Dame fans,
Paterno has more wins than all your coaches together, so blow it out your hat.
WELL MR. KELLAR, I got a comment for you. This is a free country. That’s why
many men and women died in previous wars so for you to say that this lady has
to be tamed, she has a free right to assemble and cheer. Her sons and husband
have the right to cheer for whoever they want to. This is America, it’s a free
country. I’D LIKE TO know if you could tell us how many games the Penguins
would need to win in order to make the playoffs. What place would they have to
be in, because right now we’re in last place, but in NHL hockey you can end up
in fourth place and be in the playoffs. Maybe you could enlighten us on what
we need to do to be in the playoffs. Because after last night, we have playoff
fever. Editor’s note: They have to catch Albany, which is 12 points ahead. I
JUST WANT to make a comment that the Tennessee Titans had a local boy coaching
on that team. It’s Mike Munchak, the ex-Penn Stater, the ex-All Pro, and I
hope Tennessee wins for Mike’s sake because he’s a class act. KING’S THIS,
KING’S that, King’s basketball this. One team in Wilkes-Barre is losing and
one team in Wilkes-Barre is winning. Wilkes might be struggling, but they’re
injured and they’re still coming through tough. I’M TRYING TO find out what
grade level an AAU team starts. My daughter’s going to be in fifth grade and
she really enjoys basketball. Are there any AAU teams out there for
fifth-graders or traveling leagues during the summer? I’m trying to find out,
if anybody out there could help me. JOE PATERNO’S AGE seems to be a problem
for most of your younger callers. He still has the ability and class to stay
in coaching. I hope he stays there until he’s 90. I WAS JUST commenting about
Paterno coaching for another five years. Paterno coaches like he’s still in
the ’70s. Next, he’ll be putting in the wishbone offense.
