It’s not hard to find people who’ll admit to being fans of professional
wrestling. A stroll through the Wyoming Valley Mall in the post-holiday lull
yielded numerous devotees. It was pretty much pick a person and there was an
opinion to go with the name. Here are a few of the people and their comments:

“I like Goldberg the best. He’s the biggest, strongest wrestler out there,
and no one can beat him. I’m trying to get tickets. I’d love to see him in
action.” – Dave Kanorek, 21, Nanticoke
“I watch the WCW, but only because my boyfriend, Eugene, watches. It’s
fun, but I pretty much think of it like a guy-soap opera.” – Miranda Heness,
19, Pittston

“I watch the WCW every week. My favorite wrestlers in the WCW are Chris

Benoit and Sting.” – Lenny Potoski, 30, Wilkes-Barre

“Sting is the best in the WCW. I’ve liked him since I was about 2. I’ve
already been to see the WCW twice, in Philadelphia, and I’m going again when
it comes here.” – Scott Stuchkus, 15, Wilkes-Barre

“Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio are the best wrestlers in the WCW. I like
the diving head butt that Chris Benoit does. I also like the Hardcore people.
I can’t wait to go.” – Brandon Stuchkus, 10, Wilkes-Barre

“I watch the WCW sometimes, but I watch the WWF more. The people in the
WWF are more interesting. I like seeing them fight.” – Laura Biga, 16, Plains
Township

“I watch the WWF more. It’s just more interesting. I don’t dislike the
WCW, but I definitely like the people and the fighting in the WWF more.” –
Diane Jones, 17, Plains Township

“Well I’ll tell you, when I was in high school I was a wrestler, I like
wrestling, but I don’t go for professional wrestling. I just don’t care for
it. My grandson likes it though.” – Jack Kuderka, 63, Falls

“Scott Steiner is my favorite because he’s huge. He’s a big steroid-head.
But he’s hurt right now so he just comes out and poses down. It’s still cool
though.” – Billy Coolbaugh, 22, Kingston

“I think professional wrestling is exciting, actually. I like both the
story lines, because every week I’m wondering what’s going to happen, and the
wrestling moves, because they’re exciting to watch.” – Jessica Getchen, 21,
Sweet Valley

“I think the WCW is trashy (compared to the WWF), a little over-the-edge,
especially for younger kids. I guess for older kids it’s OK, but generally I
think the WCW is overrated.” – Lindsey Rice, 17, Mountaintop

“I don’t have a favorite wrestler, but I like the WCW. It’s very
entertaining – you can’t take it seriously – but it’s very entertaining. It’s
pure entertainment.” – Anthony Ranella, 20, Dunmore

“Chris Benoit was my favorite, but he just left, so now I’d say Kevin Nash
is my favorite. He’s cocky – he makes me laugh.” – Dustin Switzer, 19, West
Pittston

“I like the whole scenario of professional wrestling, the action, the
excitement, the drama. I watch every Monday night, and Saturday if they’re
showing repeats.” – Dawn Scanlon, 28, Wyoming

“I think professional wrestling is funny. I watch it because my fiance
watches. When it’s done, he and his friends actually call each other and talk
about what happened.” – Judy Chernavage, 26, Wilkes-Barre Township
