January 27, 2000 icholas Salatino, 89, of High Street, Pittston, died
Thursday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born July 1, 1910, in Newark, N.Y.,
he was a son of the late Giuseppi and Rose Mary (Fioti) Salatino. He moved to
Pittston 49 years ago from Edwardsville, where he worked as a butcher for 15
years. He later worked as a welder for American Car & Foundry in Berwick from
1942 to 1968 and then at the Morrissey Quarry until 1972. He was a member of
St. Rocco’s Church, Pittston. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmella
Salatino; and sister, Angie Pizirusso. Surviving are his son, Joseph, Brook
Haven; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Dominick,
Pittston; sisters, Elizabeth Moyer, Amy Curcio and Mary Chiazza, all of
Newark, N.Y.; and Phyllis Carter, Washington. Funeral services will be at 10
a.m. Monday from the Graziano Funeral Home, Inc., Pittston Township, with a
Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rocco’s Roman Catholic Church.
Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Pittston. Friends may call from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
