January 27, 2000 lex N. Stancavage, 80, of Holly Drive, Dauphin, died
Thursday at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born May 10, 1919, in Ashley, he
was the son of the late John and Mary A. Stancavage. He was a retired employee
of Defense Logistics Agency, Mechanicsburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Matthew’s
Catholic Church, Dauphin; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 283, Kingston.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Kraft Stancavage; and sisters, Stella
Tarnoski, New Jersey; Mary Stacey, New York; Natalie Cooper, New Jersey;
Pauline Novitski and Celia Ogdin, both of Connecticut; and Irene Rasmus,
Nanticoke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at
St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward Quinlan will officiate.
Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Nicholas
Cemetery, Shavertown. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may
be made to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Arrangements are by the Ronald C. L.
Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon.
