January 20, 2000 eorge M. Sheldon, 91, of Libby, Mont., formerly of Columbia,
Mo., died Jan. 20 from natural causes. Born May 3, 1903, in Starbuck,
Manitoba, Canada, he was the son of the late Charles and Jennie (Courtright)
Sheldon. He moved to Lynn in 1919, graduated from high school in Springville
and attended Park Air College, St. Louis. He worked in the aviation division
of Ford Motor Co., and at Pan American Airlines in Florida. He was a master
sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force transportation division, serving in the
Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war, he operated his own
construction company in Florida. He was preceded in death by his first wife,
the former Cecelia Schooley, to whom he was married 62 years; his second wife,
Cecilia’s sister, Nellie, to whom he was married seven years; son, Donald; two
sisters and one brother. Surviving are his stepson, Carl Welch, Spokane,
Wash.; stepdaughter, Carole Booth, Libby; two granddaughters and three
great-grandchildren. Private family services will be at a later date in the
Lynn Cemetery. Arrangements were through the Sheldon Funeral Home, Laceyville.
