DIAMOND … to state Sen. Raphael Musto, D-Pittston, who was recently
honored by the Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation as the Conservation Legislator
for the Year 2000. Musto has been instrumental in the development and passage
of important state environmental legislation, including the landmark curbside
recycling program, which is the nation’s largest.
COAL … to Stephen A. Urban for filing to run for U.S. Congress less than
one month after becoming a county commissioner. While Urban made no secret of
his possible congressional candidacy during last year’s commissioners’ race,
we believe he should build a record in the courthouse and fulfill some of his
campaign promises before setting his sights on Washington.
