January 29, 2000 onald J. Baurys, 66, of Rutter Street, Buttonwood section of
Hanover Township, died Saturday at the Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born Nov.
3, 1933, in Nanticoke, he was the son of Marion Harrison Baurys Hashagen and
the late Joseph Baurys. He was a graduate of Hanover High School and resided
in Hanover Township for many years. Before retiring, he was employed as a
security guard by Nabisco Brand Co. for five years. He was formerly employed
by the Local Roofers Union 124. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Sans Souci Post 5267,
Hanover Township. He was preceded in death by his step father, Warren
Hashagen. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 38 years, the
former Joan Piston; daughter, Dawn Brown, Walnutport; son, Scott, Dover, Del.;
brothers, George Baurys, Aristes; Thomas Baurys, San Antonio, Texas; Robert
Baurys, Wilkes-Barre; Warren Hashagen, Springville, N.Y.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the S.J. Grontkowski
Funeral Home, Plymouth, with the Rev. Ann Marie Acacio, of the Unity Center
for Positive Living, officiating. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul
Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Plymouth Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA.
