January 28, 2000 Nancy A. (Cushner) Cresko, 92, of Kingston, died Friday at
Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born April 27, 1907,
in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Teresa Kozey
Cushner. She was a 1925 graduate of Coughlin High School and attended the
Pierce School of Business, Philadelphia. She was employed as the owner,
operator and president of the Holiday Towne House Motel West, Kingston, and
co-owner, with her husband, of Holiday Towne House Motels East and West. She
assisted in overseeing the bookkeeping activities of Cresko Motors, was
manager and co-operator of Ovalon Restaurant and Lounge and bookkeeper of
Scranton Spring Water and Gas Co. She was a member of St. Hedwig’s Church;
served as honorary chairperson of the Daniel J. Flood Endowment Fund for
College Misericordia; lifetime honorary member of College Misericordia; past
president of Wyoming Valley Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and adviser to
Geisinger’s Women’s Auxiliary; life member of the Mt. Nittany Society of
University Park; charter member of Penn State Wilkes-Barre Hayfield Society;
and in 1993 King’s College established the Nancy Cresko Presidential
Scholarship. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cresko; seven
brothers and a sister. Surviving are her son, Robert Cresko, Huntington, N.Y.;
daughter, Doris Cresko, West Wyoming; step sons, Jack and Ronald Cresko, both
of Florida; brothers, William Cushner, Shavertown; Stephen Cushner, Orlando,
Fla.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from
the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial
at 9:30 a.m. in St. Hedwig’s Church, with the Rev. Richard Zavacki
officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may
call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Memorial donations may be made to
Penn State Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center or to the Hoyt Library.
