Although the Bowl Champion ship Series ranking system and their playoff is
better than the old method, some fine-tuning is in order.

Many would agree that a playoff is the best method, but realistically we
will not see that any time soon. An alternative that seems fair would be to
play an additional game after the final B.C.S. ranking is issued.
In this system, the No. 1 team would play the No. 4 team and the No. 2 team
would play the No. 3 team. These games would be played at the No. 1 and No. 2
teams’ stadiums either a week or two after the final rankings. What purpose
does this serve?

First, it would allow a team that loses a game to still have a shot at the
national championship. As it stands now, a loss during the year acts as a
death sentence. This solution would eliminate that unfair practice and give
players a chance at playing in the title game.

I believe without an actual playoff, this is the next best alternative we
could have to make the college football championship fair to all teams.

Complaints will still exist; however, it is a step in the right direction.
