January 28, 2000 ilhelmina “Billie” Lipfert, formerly of the Parsons
section of Wilkes-Barre, died Friday in Canal Winchester, Ohio. Born June 10,
1917, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna
Thomas Hayes. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School and Bloomsburg State
Teachers College. She was a teacher in Drums; Estella, Sullivan County; and
Columbus, Ohio. She also operated a dress shop in Parsons before moving to
Ohio. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, South Main Street,
Wilkes-Barre. Surviving are cousins, Mary Lynn, Kingston; and Joyce Rutheford,
Wilkes-Barre. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from E. Blake
Collins Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre, with services at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Wayne Heintzelman, of St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church, Mountaintop, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Greenwood Cemetery,
Shavertown. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
