January 29, 2000 ohn “Jack” J. Martin, 69, of Inkerman, Jenkins Township,
died Saturday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born Oct. 3, 1930, in Forty
Fort, he was a son of the late John and Helen Martin. He was a 1948 graduate
of Forty Fort High School and attended the Pennsylvania State University
Wilkes-Barre and Guthrie campuses. He worked as a regional insurance inspector
and auditor for Equifax Inc., Atlanta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his
second wife, the former Audrey Usher. Surviving are his sons, Jay, New
Hampshire; and Carl, Tunkhannock; daughters, Karen Carry, Sweet Valley; and
Suzanne Galenty, Dunlop, Ill.; stepsons, Robert Polachek, Kingston; Richard
Polachek, Laflin; Christopher Polachek, St. Joseph, Mo.; and Jay Polachek,
Wilkes-Barre Township; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family from the Nat
& Gawlas Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass in St. Boniface
Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle.
There will be no calling hours.
