January 29, 2000 Robert C. Evans, 58, of Valley View Terrace, Wilkes-Barre,
formerly of Darling Street and Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, and Weatherly, died
Saturday in Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son
of the late Evan M. and Leona (Flower) Evans. He attended Coughlin High
School, Wilkes-Barre. He worked for Marvel Mobile Home Co., Exeter, and Carter
Rubber Co. and Roth American Corp., both in Wilkes-Barre. He was also a
bartender at Bill’s Bar, Wilkes-Barre. He was preceded in death by his
daughter, Donna Lee Evans; and brothers, Daniel and Carl Hogan and Evan M.
Evans Jr. Surviving are his former wife, Dolores Perrin Evans Kershner,
Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Leona M. Eddy, Mary C. Evans, Dolores A. Coulter and
Michele L. Luton, all of Wilkes-Barre; Debra A. Blackhawk, Weatherly; and
Susan M. Olver, Shickshinny; son, Robert C. Jr., Newfoundland; sister,
Margaret Cunningham, Wilkes-Barre; 12 grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be
at 8 p.m. Wednesday from the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc.,
Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Daniel G. Jones of Holy Cross Episcopal Church,
Wilkes-Barre, officiating. Private interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery,
Hanover Township. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the service
Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society.
