January 31, 2000 rank J. Czeck, of Nuangola Road, Mountaintop, formerly of
Nanticoke, died Monday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Newport
Township, he was a son of the late Paul and Stefania (Gizara) Czeck. He was a
U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and worked at Wanamie Colliery,
Newport Township; and Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., Hanover Township. He was
a member of St. Mary’s Church, Nanticoke, and the parish Ushers Club, and was
president of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of Nanticoke
Basketball Boosters Club and American Legion Post 350, Nanticoke. He was
preceded in death by his wife, the former Irene Binkowski; brothers, Stanley
and Edward; and sister, Lottie Gill. Surviving are his daughter, Melanie
Gregorowicz, with whom he resided; son, Bernard, Mocanaqua, Conyngham
Township; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph, Glen
Lyon, Newport Township; and sisters, Cecelia Stewart, Wanamie; Helen Czeck and
Dolores Czeck, both of Nanticoke; and Josephine Malone, Paradise, Calif.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral
Home, Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s
Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Nanticoke. Members of
American Legion Post 350 will conduct graveside military services. Friends may
call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited at 7:30
p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St.
Mary’s Church.
