January 31, 2000 Joseph F. Marrone, 68, of Mayock Street, Miners Mills section
of Wilkes-Barre, formerly of South State Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Monday at
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born Feb. 1, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a
son of the late Joseph J. and Madeline (Giampietro) Marrone. A 1951 graduate
of Coughlin High School, he was a model maker for the InterMetro Industries
Corp., Wilkes-Barre, for 32 years, retiring in 1993. An automobile mechanic,
he owned and operated Joe’s Garage, Scott Street, Wilkes-Barre. He served in
the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of St. Nicholas Church,
Wilkes-Barre; the InterMetro Retirees; and the American Association of Retired
Persons. Surviving are his wife, the former Ethel Fetchick, with whom he
celebrated 45 years of marriage Aug. 18; daughters, Deborah Widman,
Wilkes-Barre; and Susan Orlowsky, Old Forge; son, Joseph J., Exeter; five
grandchildren; sisters, Pat Cole, Wilkes-Barre; and Lucille Sattof,
Wilkes-Barre; brother, Frank J., Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the George A. Strish, Inc.,
Funeral Home, Ashley, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St.
Nicholas Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
