February 1, 2000 lorence A. Church, of Second Avenue, Kingston, died Tuesday
at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Hanover Township, she was a
daughter of the late Edward and Sophia (Pogodzinski) Dozyk and was a 1942
graduate of Hanover High School. During World War 11, she served with the
Women’s Army Corp as a dental hygienist. She was employed by Piledggi’s
Restaurant, Kingston, retiring in 1978. She was preceded in death by her first
husband, George Abod; second husband, Willard Church; and sisters, Wanda
Fataicher and Dorothy Gross. Surviving are her sons, Robert Abod, Wapwallopen;
Jeffrey, Kingston; and Kevin, West Wyoming; daughter, Melissa Alexander,
Wyoming; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Therese’s
Church, Wilkes-Barre. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations may be made to Wyoming Valley Crippled Children’s
Association, 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, 18701; or the Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Luzerne County, Plains Township.
