January 29, 2000 illian Kussavage, 90, of Hammond, N.Y., formerly of
Nanticoke, died Saturday at United Helpers Cedars Nursing Home, Ogdensburg,
N.Y. Born in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen
(Smugai) Markowski and attended Nanticoke schools. She worked for San Souci
Frocks, Nanticoke, as a stitcher. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church,
Nanticoke; St. Peter’s Church, Hammond, N.Y.; and Macomb Senior Citizens
Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; brothers, Norman
and Pascal; and sister, Celia Puzniewski. Surviving are her son, Pascal,
Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter, Elizabeth Zajaczkowski, Hammond, N.Y.; three
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10
a.m. Thursday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., Nanticoke. Interment
will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call from 9 to 10
a.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date
in Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke.
