Tony Pachick of GAR Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre can’t remember a
time when he wasn’t interested in art. Now it seems that his talent is about
to take him places.

Pachick, a senior, was recently offered a scholarship to study fine arts
at Keystone College in LaPlume.
Tony, the son of Anthony and Susan Pachick of Wilkes-Barre, was first
influenced by his father who is also an artist. He spends many hours doing art
work at home, and says it is his favorite hobby.

In fourth grade at Heights-Murray Elementary School, Pachick took second
place in the visual category and a third place award for creativity in the
annual art contest.

His talent was fostered by GAR art teacher Sally Readinger when he reached
the seventh grade. Pachick says that he knew he had talent but credits
Readinger with showing hiw what he could do with it. A display case of
Pachick’s work in the hall of his school was arranged by Readinger.

In addition to the time he spends drawing and painting, Pachick is a member
of the wrestling team and chorus. He plays baritone in the orchestra at school
and is a self-taught guitarist. Pachick’s name frequents the honor roll, and
he is a member of the National Honor Society. He works part time at McDonald’s
restaurant.

Though Pachick is excited about his scholarship offer, he is keeping his
options open and applying to other schools as well. Meanwhile, he’ll be busy
creating with acrylic paint and pen and ink.
