The township will soon be joining a new sewer authority. During the regular
meeting of township supervisors Tuesday night, Supervisor Donald Brior said
the township has permission to disband the Raccoon Creek Municipal Authority
and form a joint authority with North Union Township. The new authority’s
initial goal will be to connect the residents of Weston and Nuremberg to the
sewer system. Brior said the Raccoon Creek authority will remain in effect
until next month, at which time the joint board will take effect. The new
authority will have five board members, two from Black Creek Township and
three from North Union Township. In other business, the vacant Rock Glen
school is scheduled to be sold in a Luzerne County Sheriff’s tax sale Feb. 2.
The sale was originally slated for Dec. 3 but was delayed until after Sheriff
Barry Stankus took office. The supervisors also fielded questions from
several residents complaining about drifting snow that made some roads
impassable at times during the recent storms. Brior, who is Black Creek’s
roadmaster, credited the Road Department with doing a “real good job” in
general and said this is “one of the first complaints” he has heard.
