February 2, 2000 atalie M. Giovanelli, 78, of Bear Creek, formerly of Plains
Township, died Wednesday at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre. Born in the
Heights section of Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and
Martha (Luppino) Aleo and a 1940 graduate of Coughlin High School. She was
manager of Lazarus Beautician Salon of Wilkes-Barre before her marriage. She
was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Wilkes-Barre, and the Sacred Heart Altar &
Rosary Society of the parish. Surviving are her husband, John, with whom she
celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary April 28; son, John,
daughter-in-law, Michelle, and grandson, John, with whom she resided in Bear
Creek; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
brothers, John and Dr. Joseph Aleo. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday
from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian
Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church. Interment will be in the Italian
Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. today. Members of the Sacred Heart Altar & Rosary Society of Holy Rosary
Church will meet at 2 this afternoon to pray the rosary. Members of the Plains
Township Lions Club will meet at 6:45 this evening at the funeral home to pay
respects. Memorial donations may be made to the Vincent and Martha Aleo
Scholarship Fund, c/o Wilkes University.
