February 2, 2000 Deacon Edward “Eddie” A. Walters Jr., 40, of High Street,
Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at his home. Born April 20, 1959, in Nashville,
Tenn., he was a son of the late Edward A. and Eugenia Corrine (Dixon) Walters.
He was a 1977 graduate of GAR Memorial High School and attended Luzerne County
Community College and National Truck Driving School. He was a member of Mount
Zion Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre, where he was a deacon and a Sunday school
teacher. He also sang with the men’s choir and the senior choir at Mount Zion
Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for Biscontini Distribution Center.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jacqueline D. Buck; sons, Christopher E.
Walters, Edward A. Walters III, Randy Buck and Rodney Mimms, all at home; and
Jeremiah C. Mimms, New York; daughter, Julisa C. Walters, at home; brothers,
James L. Walters Sr., Vineland, N.J.; Jerry B. Walters Sr. and William
Lassiter, both of Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Rita Y. Walters, Vineland, N.J.; and
Denise Lassiter, Wilkes-Barre; maternal grandfather, Hubert E. Dixon; and
several nieces and nephews. Home going services will be noon Monday in Mount
Zion Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery,
Hanover Township. The Rev. George H. Smith, of Mount Zion Baptist Church, will
officiate. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until noon at the church. The family
will accept condolences from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Kniffen
O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., Wilkes-Barre, is in charge of arrangements.
