February 3, 2000 dna H. Smith, 96, of Swamp Road, Hunlock Creek, died
Thursday at Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke. Born Aug. 6, 1903, in Hunlock
Township, she was a daughter of the late Wrighter and Grace (Bonham)
Benscoter. She attended Bloomsburg Normal School and was a teacher at Santee
School House at Hunlock Creek. She was a member of Roaring Brook Baptist
Church and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Nanticoke
Chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; sister, Beatrice
Hummel; and brothers, Osborne, Oswald and Wrighter. Surviving are her son,
Darl Smith, Swamp Road, of Hunlock Creek, three grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the
Clarke Piatt Funeral Home, Inc., Hunlock Creek. The Rev. Dan Brubaker will
officiate. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30
to 9 this evening. The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct services at 6:30
this evening. Memorial donations may be made to Oakdale Cemetery Association,
