City Council members during Wednesday’s meeting accepted a $1.3 million bid
from Ed Krasavage Construction for the sewer and storm drain replacement
project on Market and Prospect streets. Construction is not anticipated to
begin until late spring. In other business, Councilwoman Yvonne Bozinski said
the council is applying for the annual Community Development Block Grant from
the state for 2001. She said the city is estimated to receive between $460,000
and $480,000, which will be used to repair streets and demolish nuisance
properties. Council members have not decided which areas will receive the
improvements. Mayor John Toole said he will give the annual State of the City
address at the March meeting, which will give residents information about the
city’s financial status.
