February 3, 2000 obert Alvin Parsons Jr., 62, of Asylum Township, Bradford
County, died Wednesday at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center,
Wilkes-Barre. Born March 24, 1937, in East Towanda, he was a son of Nancy
Rundell Parsons, of Wilmot, and the late Robert A. Parsons Sr. He attended
local schools and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He was a
tractor-trailer driver his entire life. He recently retired from Carr &
Stanton Logging after 18 years. He was a member of McDermott Post 452 American
Legion, Mildred; and AMVETS Post 261, Durell; and an associate member of
Veterans of Foreign Wars, Asylum Township. Surviving, in addition to his
mother, are his son, Keith, and daughters, Lorraine and Desiree; special
friend, Margie Cosgrove, Asylum Township; brothers, Wayne and Thomas, and
sister, Elsie M. Parsons, all of Wilmot; and several nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by a half-brother, Bill Baker. Graveside funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wysox Cemetery. The Rev. Beverly
Davenport, of Hollenback United Methodist Church, will officiate. There will
be no calling hours according to the wishes of the deceased. Graveside
military service will be accorded by members of McDermott Post 452 American
Legion and AMVETS Post 261. Memorial donations may be made to the American
Legion or AMVETS posts according services. Funeral arrangements are under the
direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, Wyalusing.
