SCRANTON – Rather than celebrating his 90th birthday as most 90-year-olds
do – relaxing – U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Senior Judge Max Rosenn will
hear an argument in a major sentencing guideline case.

The three-judge panel of Chief Judge Edward R. Becker, Judge Marjorie O.
Rendell, and Rosenn will hear arguments in the case of U.S. vs. Schurelds,
involving sentencing guidelines.
The panel will decide if federal sentencing guidelines were applied fairly
to a convicted felon caught with guns, a Philadelphia newspaper reported.

Becker and Rendell will be in Philadelphia, while Rosenn will participate
via videoconference from the William J. Nealon Federal Building and U.S.
Courthouse in Scranton at 9 a.m.

Born in Plains Township, Rosenn graduated from Cornell University in 1929
with a bachelor of arts degree, and received a law degree at the University of
Pennsylvania Law School in 1932. Rosenn also holds honorary degrees from
Dickinson Law School, King’s College and College Misericordia.
