SCRANTON – Twelve Scranton residents on Tuesday were arrested on drug
charges, said the FBI.
The bureau believes the residents were part of a large-scale cocaine
distribution network.
Hector Gonzalez, 35 and Elizabeth Lopez, 24, both of Schultz Court; Luis
Gonzalez, 29, of Mineral Avenue; Silvia Gonzalez, 31 and Maritza Lopez, 31,
both of Quincy Avenue; Jackelyn Lopez, 20, of 10th Avenue; Michelle Lopez, 22,
and Quiry Alcantara, 25, both of Pittston Avenue; and Jose Silva, 41, Carlos
Amador, 24, and Antonia Lopez, 36, incarcerated, were charged with conspiracy
to distribute in excess of 5 kilograms of cocaine.
Braulio Jimines, 24, of Quincy Avenue, also was charged with possession of
a firearm, said Robert S. Conforti, special agent in charge of the Federal
Bureau of Investigation in Philadelphia.
The Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Marshals Service, state Office of
Attorney General, Scranton Police, and K-9 units from the Dunmore,
Wilkes-Barre, and Veterans Affairs police departments assisted in the arrests,
Conforti said.
Hector Gonzalez, Amador, and Antonia Lopez, are jailed at the Lackawanna
County Correctional Facility. Luis Gonzalez, Silvia Gonzalez, Elizabeth Lopez,
Maritza Lopez, Jackelyn Lopez, Michelle Lopez, and Quiry Alcantara are jailed
at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
Information concerning Silva and Jimines was not available Wednesday.
