Students watch Thursday as a construction paper rocket blasts off at King’s
College, Wilkes-Barre, as part of Carol Moutray’s `Science Methods for
Elementary Teachers’ class. The rocket was propelled by a mixture of
Alka-Seltzer and water packed in a plastic film container. The pressure of the
gas build-up in the container launched rockets as high as 10 feet. Moutray
learned how to build the rockets in January when she participated in the first
`Teaching With Technology’ program offered by the Astronauts Memorial
Foundation and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration at the
Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
