February 3, 2000 ichael L. Valenti, of West Pine Circle, Crystal River, Fla.,
formerly of West Pittston, died Thursday at Geisinger Medical Center,
Danville. Born Aug. 15, 1918, in Pittston Township, he was a son of the late
Carmello and Pasqualina (Lanza) Valenti and attended Pittston Township High
School. He and his wife Bernice operated the Arthur Murray School of Dance in
Wilkes-Barre, Buffalo, N.Y., and Niagara Falls. Before retiring, he was a
photo technician for Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was also a watchmaker and
jeweler. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Immaculate
Conception Church, West Pittston; the American Legion in Crystal River, Fla.;
and the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving, in addition to his wife, the
former Bernice Wawrzyniak, are his children, Patricia Valenti Dvorscak,
Crystal River; Michael C., Stroudsburg; and Joseph, C., West Pittston; six
grandchildren; sisters, Regina Montagna, Pittston; Theresa Kleinhans, Jenkins
Township; Anna Valenti and Angeline Sciandra, both of Pittston Township; and
numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers,
Rosario, Charles, Joseph and Michael; and sister, Salvatrice Valenti. Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday from the Graziano Funeral Home, Pittston
Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception
Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Rocco’s Cemetery, Pittston
Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Memorial
donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, Danville.
