February 2, 2000 Patrick S. Tavella, 79, of Pinesong Drive, Casselberry,
Fla., died Wednesday at Florida Hospital, Orlando, Fla. Born in Pittston, he
was a son of the late Giuseppe and Theresa (Politano) Tavella. He resided in
Middlesex, N.J., for several years and Laflin for 15 years before moving to
Florida. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the
European Theater. Before retiring, he was a chemical supervisor for 32 years
at American Cyanamid Co., Bound Brook, N.J. He was a member of St. Maria
Goretti Church, Laflin; the Big Band Society of Northeastern Pennsylvania; the
Italian American Club; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Home Association, Dupont.
He was preceded in death by his wife the former, Stella Bodzon; sisters,
Loretta Montagna and Mary Borzell; and brother, August. Surviving are his
daughter, Patricia Relkin, Casselberry; sisters, Catherine Newhart and Jean
Benish, both of Exeter; brother, Joseph, Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Metcalfe & Shaver Funeral
Home, Inc., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Maria
Goretti Church. Interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends
may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
