MUNLEY, MUNLEY & CARTWRIGHT: Stephen D. Rhoades has joined the firm as a
trial lawyer.
He is a graduate of Bucknell University and earned a law degree from
Widener University School of Law. He clerked for the late Judge Donald Wieand
of the Pennsylvania Superior Court.
ROSENN, JENKINS & GREENWALD: Frank J. Bolock Jr. has been named a partner.
He served as Scranton city solicitor and as an assistant district attorney
for Lackawanna County.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of
Scranton and a doctorate from the Duquesne University School of Law.
A Waverly resident, he is a member of the board of governors of Duquesne
School of Law Alumni Association and is a director of the Pennsylvania Lawyers
Concerned for Lawyers.
CENTURY 21 RUTH K. SMITH REAL ESTATE: Pam McGovern has joined the firm,
which has offices in Kingston, Shavertown and the Mountaintop area.
McGovern worked for Quest Consulting Group Inc. for four years.
She is a graduate of Wilkes University with a bachelor’s degree in business
administration, with a concentration in marketing.
She is a Mountaintop-area resident.
QUAD THREE GROUP: Anthony G. Poli has been hired as manager of the
Pittsburgh office.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in art and design from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in architecture from the
University of Washington.
He resides in Sewickley.
UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCES IN PHILADELPHIA: Patrick J. Lepore has been
named chief information officer.
A former Plains Township resident, he was director of administrative
computing and associate vice president for information technology at the
school.
He received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering technology from
Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in management information
systems from Lesley College in Cambridge, Mass.
INSTRUMENT SPECIALTIES: James A. Sezwick has been appointed an executive
vice president for production facilities in three states, including
Pennsylvania. He was director of sales & business development.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western
Michigan University. He has served on the board of directors of the Spring
Manufacturers Institute and as a member of the American Marketing Research
Council.
WYOMING VALLEY HEALTH CARE SYSTEM: Dr. David A. Vrba has been appointed to
the staff of the Freeland Health Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree in
biology from Penn State and a doctorate in dental surgery from the Temple
University School of Dentistry.
PARENTE RANDOLPH: Robert J. Ciaruffoli has been elected chairman and chief
executive officer.
He joined the firm in 1979 and has served as president and chief operating
officer since 1990.
A graduate of King’s College, he is a certified public accountant and a
Moosic resident.
KING’S COLLEGE: Stan Zygmunt has been named assistant director of public
relations and marketing.
He was marketing manager for Loveshaw, an ITW Company, a packaging
equipment manufacturer in South Canaan.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a Master of Business
Administration from the University of Scranton.
He is a Moscow resident.
COLLEGE MISERICORDIA: Christopher Sutzko has been named coordinator of
career development for the college’s Insalaco Center for Career Development.
He is a nationally certified rehabilitation counselor and secondary school
counselor and has worked as a vocational case manager for Concentra Managed
Care Inc.
He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in counselor education
from the University of Scranton. He resides in Dallas.
BRYN MAWR TRUST CO.: West Pittston native Joseph S. Saraceno has been
promoted to group vice president.
He joined the bank in March 1985 and has headed the Loan Operations
Department since September 1986.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bucknell
University and is a graduate of the American Bankers Association’s Stonier
School of banking.
He resides in Newtown Square.
RIVERSIDE REHABILITATION: The facility has announced three appointments:
Kristine Evans has been named pediatric speech-language pathologist at the
Wyoming facility.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s
degree in speech-language pathology from Penn State.
A Shavertown resident, she is licensed by the state and holds a certificate
of clinical competence.
Amy Jamieson, has been named pediatric and occupational therapist at the
Plains Township, Wyoming and Mountaintop-area facilities.
She holds a master’s degree in occupational therapy from College
Misericordia. A Pittston resident, she is licensed by the state.
Jennifer Alberti, has been named pediatric speech-language pathologist for
the Mountaintop-area facility. She holds a master’s degree in speech-language
pathology from Bloomsburg University.

GEISINGER HEALTH PLAN: Two employees have been named employees of the
month for January:
Tracy Simms, receptionist/cashier at the Central Wilkes-Barre Office, has
been with the health system for three years.
Cindy Mickavicz, clinical dietitian at the Wyoming Valley Medical Center,
has been with the health system for five years.
TOBYHANNA ARMY DEPOT: Four employees have been honored for long-term
service:
Liz Millard, chief of the Depot Property Division, 50 years.
Peter J. Stidham, an electronics engineer in the Directorate of Production
Engineering, 30 years.
Paul Lukasiewicz, an electronics mechanic in the Directorate of
Avionics-Intelligence/ Electronics Warfare Systems, 30 years.
Robert B. Rine, an electronics worker in the depot’s Directorate of
Avionics-IEW systems, 30 years.
WAYNE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: Ernie Becker, medical technician in Laboratory
Services, has been named employee of the year for 1999.
U.S. POSTAL SERVICE: Joe Danko, a letter carrier in the Pittston office,
has been inducted into the National Safety Council’s “Million Mile Club” for
30 years of accident-free driving on the job. Board of Directors
MILLVILLE MUTUAL INSURANCE CO.: The following were elected as directors of
the Columbia County company: Rob Beyer, Bloomsburg; Jeff Lewis, Bloomsburg;
Lance Diehl, Millville; and John Waltz, Hughesville.
The following were elected as officers: Dean B. Girton, chairman of the
board; Jeff Lewis, vice chairman; M. Paige Raski, president; K. John Kitchen,
secretary/treasurer; and Kenneth King, executive committee.
Other board members are Wayne Grow and Patricia Porter, Elysburg; Ed Lease,

PP&L: Mountaintop-area resident Carol Parks, an employee of the Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station, the nuclear plant near Berwick, received the
Pennsylvania Occupational Health Nurses Association’s Dorothy Saller
Outstanding Nurse Award for 1999.
The award recognizes her professional responsibilities, demonstrated
leadership, professional certifications, professional affiliations and
organizational service.
Parks earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing and is a board-certified
occupational health nurse-specialist and a certified occupational hearing
conservationist.
She was nominated by the association’s Susquehanna Valley Chapter.

WYOMING VALLEY HEALTH CARE SYSTEM: Dr. George E. Cimochowski, chief of
cardiac surgery at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, presented the results of a
38-month study on sternal wound infections in cardiopulmonary bypass surgery
to the Society for Thoracic Surgeons in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
His study was one of 75 selected for presentation and is the only one whose
work was not conducted in a major university or university medical setting.
Association/ Commissions
ALLIED HEALTH SERVICES: Vice President Thomas Pugh has assumed the
chairmanship of the Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities. He
will serve a two-year term.
He was chairman of the association’s medical division.
JOHN HEINZ INSTITUTE: Dr. Michael J. Raymond, director of
neuropsychological/cognitive services, has been selected as one of the leading
report writers by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation
Facilities, Tucson, Ariz.
KING’S COLLEGE: Fevzi Akinci, assistant professor of health care
administration, has been appointed to serve on the “Criterion Review
Committee” of the Accrediting Commission on Education for Health Services.
