Student-Athlete Award – Female Division JENNIFER BLUM scored 4s and 5s out
a possible 5 on three advanced placement tests for college credit as a junior
at Wyoming Seminary. Blum is the winner of the KBAC Student-Athlete Award in
the female division. She earned a 3.98 grade point average during the first
semester of her senior year taking AP Calculus, AP Biology, Physics, Drawing
and Design, Literature, Chorale and Physical Education. She has an SAT score
of 1,340. Blum plays tennis, basketball and softball at Seminary and is the
school’s 1999 homecoming queen. She is a dorm counselor and is on the
new-student orientation committee. Finalists Kim Tranell, who has a grade
point average of 4.267 at Wyoming Valley West, is editor of the school
yearbook and was all-state in field hockey. Kelly Walsh, who has an overall
grade point average of 4.2 at Wyoming Area, ranks 10th in her class and runs
cross country and track. Semifinalists Maria Zangardi, a star in tennis,
basketball and softball who has a 4.0 grade point average and ranks first in
her class at Seton Catholic. Kate Ruda, a member of Crestwood’s state
championship field hockey team who has a 4.27 grade point average and ranks
14th in her class. Kelly Williams, a member of Bishop Hoban’s state
championship basketball team who has a grade point average of 4.087 and ranks
eighth in her class. Jennifer Rosick, a member of Wyoming Valley West’s state
championship water polo team who has a grade point average of 4.13 and ranks
fourth in her class. Kelly Curry, a four-sport athlete at Pittston Area who
has a 4.1 grade point average and ranks 15th in her class.
