A fugitive from Brooklyn, N.Y., suspected of drug activity on Hazle Avenue,
was arrested early Friday after a foot chase with state police, police said.
Police said they approached Chris Johnson, 23, in a marked vehicle near
Stanton Street. When the trooper exited the vehicle, Johnson fled north on
Stanton Street. Johnson was apprehended a short time later on Huber Street.
Police said it was later confirmed that Johnson was wanted in New York on a
parole violation warrant. He was arraigned before District Justice Donald
Whittaker in Nanticoke and sent to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility to
await extradition.
