LUZERNE – Two men were arrested on Sunday after assaulting a Pittston man
in front of police at about 2:20 a.m., Luzerne police said. The incident
occurred in the Voodoo Lounge parking lot at 75 Main Street, said Luzerne
Police Officer Donald Mantush. Walter James Charney III, 22, of Swoyersville,
and Lee Michael Tripp, 21, of Luzerne were each charged with aggravated and
simple assault, public drunkenness, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct,
and failure to disperse, Mantush said. They were arraigned by District Justice
Thomas Sharkey in Milnesville and taken to the Luzerne County Correctional
Facility for lack of $75,000 cash bail each. The victim, Edward Lussi, 24, was
treated at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and released, a hospital spokeswoman
said. Mantush said officers were at the scene “dealing with an argument
between two females” when the men started fighting.
