February 6, 2000 arriet “Jadwiga” (Savitsky) Orowicz, of Wilkes-Barre, died
Sunday at Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre. Born Sept. 30, 1904, in
Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Wendolowski)
Savitsky. She attended Wilkes-Barre schools. She worked as a seamstress in the
local garment industry for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church
of the Maternity, Wilkes-Barre, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin; son, Edmund; sister, Anna; and
brothers, Leo, Stanley and Barney Savitsky. Surviving are her daughters,
Henrietta Laboda, with whom she resided; Caroline Steinmetz, San Ramon,
Calif.; Rose-Marie Scovira, Mesa, Ariz.; and Geraldine Lentini, Egg Harbor
Township, N.J.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Martha
Honnis, Wilkes-Barre. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the
Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at
10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church of the Maternity. Interment will be in the parish
cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church of the Maternity,
Wilkes-Barre.
