February 6, 2000 Helen (Ralick) Russin, 89, of Plains Township, died Sunday
at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. Born Nov. 20, 1910, in Scranton, she
was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Arendt) Ralick. She attended
Scranton public schools and was a graduate of Lackawanna Business College.
Before her retirement, she worked as an administrative secretary for the
Federated Russian Orthodox Clubs. She was a member of Holy Resurrection
Orthodox Cathedral, Wilkes-Barre and its acappella choir, the Mozart Club, the
Wyoming Valley Oratorio Society, the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Auxiliary
and the Quota Club. She was a volunteer at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital,
first president of the Maffett Street School PTA, and past president of the
VFW Post 283 Auxiliary, Kingston. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Harry S.; brother, John Ralick; and sisters, Lydia Swinteck and Alice Kellett.
Surviving are her daughters, Joan R. Cross, New Castle; Barbara R. Musnuff,
Kingston; and Helen R. Morris, Stanton, N.J.; son, Basil G. Russin, Esq.,
Kingston; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Simon S. Russin Funeral
Home Inc., Plains Township, with Requiem Services at 9:30 a.m. in Holy
Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral, with Archpriest Joseph Martin officiating.
Interment will be in the Eastern Orthodox Lawn of Fern Knoll Burial Park,
Dallas. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Parastas
services will be at 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Resurrection
Orthodox Cathedral.
