CONYNGHAM TWP. – Initially thought to have suffered head and internal
injuries when a van driven by her father collided with a train Sunday,
5-year-old township resident Blanche Holdren was treated and released from
Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Her sister, however, remained at Berwick Hospital on Monday night. Desiree
Holdren, 13, was listed in stable condition.
Police said the girls’ father, Randy Holdren, didn’t notice the approaching
train and drove into its path at a railroad crossing near Italy Street around
3 p.m.
The impact spun the van 180 degrees and forced it to flip onto the driver’s
side.
Randy Holdren was treated and released at Berwick Hospital on Sunday.
