February 6, 2000 eonard P. Blasavage, of Parsonage Street, Hughestown, died
Sunday. Born in Exeter, he was the son of the late Mary Blasavage. He was a
graduate of Hughestown Public School. He worked for 20 years at Atlas Chain,
West Pittston, and last worked for 17 years as a maintenance mechanic for
Pittston Area School District. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Hughestown, and the parish Holy
Name Society; Hughestown Hose Co.; the Disabled American Veterans, Pittston;
and AMVETS Post 189, Dupont. He served as mayor of Hughestown for eight years.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Theresa Cellucci, Hughestown;
daughter, Linda Tuminelli, Hughestown; son, Leonard C., Pittston; and two
grandsons. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Blessed
Sacrament Church. Interment will be in Pittston Cemetery. There will be no
calling hours. Arrangements are by the Adonizio Funeral Home, Pittston.
