February 6, 2000 eonard Maga, 86, formerly of West Ridge Street, Nanticoke,
died Sunday at Crittenton Hospital, Rochester, Mich. Born in Nanticoke, he was
a son of the late Charles and Mary Bartkowski. He attended Nanticoke schools.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke. He was a welder and
machinist for the Susquehanna Coal Co. for many years, and last worked for the
Allen & Allen Salvage Co., Nanticoke, until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army
Air Corps veteran of World War II, having served as an aircraft mechanic with
the Air Transport Command. He was a member of American Legion Post 350,
Nanticoke; and the Anthracite Union. He was preceded in death by his wife, the
former Josephine Hajduk; brothers, Zigmund, Walter and Clem; and sisters,
Lillian Navroth and Anna Wayne. Surviving are his sons, David, Clarkston,
Mich.; and Joseph, Nanticoke; six grandchildren; and sister, Mary Bednarek,
Nanticoke. A military funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday from the
Grontkowski Funeral Home, Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial 9 a.m. in
Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Sheatown,
Newport Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
