February 7, 2000 obert J. “Bob” McAnney, 80, of Spring Street, East End of
Wilkes-Barre, died Monday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born Dec. 18,
1919, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Michael and Margaret (Devers)
McAnney. A graduate of Coughlin High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II in the European Theater. He was a retail sales manager at
McCarthy Tire Service Co. for 42 years. He served for many years as a member
of East Side Landfill Authority. He was a member of Holy Saviour Church,
Wilkes-Barre. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Doughtery and
Catherine Gillespie; brothers, Thomas, Joseph, William and Leo. Surviving are
his wife, the former Margaret “Peg” Danko, with whom he celebrated their
56th wedding anniversary May 22; son, Michael, Shavertown; daughter, Patricia
Muessig, Wilkes-Barre; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces
and nephews. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the E. Blake
Collins Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy
Saviour Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations may be made to Holy Saviour Church Memorial Fund.
