WILKES-BARRE – A home at 93 Madison St. sustained extensive damage during
an early morning fire Tuesday, according to fire officials.

The blaze started about 12:30 a.m. when Joseph Emerick knocked over a
candle in a first floor room, said William Ott, fire captain of the
Wilkes-Barre Fire Department.
Emerick suffered minor burns while trying to extinguish the fire and was
taken to a local hospital for treatment, Ott said.

Five fire engines and one truck responded to the two-alarm blaze, Emerick
said.

The fire is not considered suspicious, Ott said.

Additional information was not available Tuesday.
