February 7, 2000 hester L. Losinger, of Hurley Street, Miners Mills section of
Wilkes-Barre, died Monday at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical
Center, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wellsboro, he was the son of Mary (Bubacz)
Losinger and the late Louis Losinger. He was educated in the Towanda Area
School District and attended Penn State University. He was self-employed. A
U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served with the 101st Airborne
Division Special Forces of the Green Beret. He won two Army Commendation
Medals, five Bronze Stars, two Silver Stars, the Vietnamese Cross for
Gallantry, three Purple Hearts and the Distinguished Service Cross. He was a
member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Wilkes-Barre; Veterans of Foreign Wars
Lani Post, Hudson, Plains Township; and various American Legion posts and
veterans organizations. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife,
the former Margaret M. Sjostedt; sons, Todd Johnson, Laurel, Md.; Louis
Losinger and Matthew Losinger, at home; daughter, Christa Boyles, Knoxville;
two grandchildren; brother, Roger, Liberty; sister, Velda Mae Johnson,
Rummerfield; stepmother, Velda Wilcox Losinger, Rummerfield; nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Yeosock Funeral
Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30
a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Maple
Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
