February 7, 2000 ohn Kaczenski, 74, of Watt Street, Duryea, died Monday in
Falls Township. Born in Duryea, he was a son of the late Vincent and Apolonia
(Olczak) Kaczenski. He was a graduate of Duryea High School and was a U.S.
Navy veteran of World War II. Before retiring, he worked for Polpt and Talbot,
Ransom. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Duryea; Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 1227, Duryea; and the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in
death by a sister, Mary Ann Reno. Surviving are his daughters, Joan Slagle,
Sonoma Beach, Calif.; Marie Smirman, Michigan; and L. Chloe Kaczenski,
Edwardsville; brothers, Thaddeus “Ted,” Duryea; and Francis, Carteret, N.J.;
nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Bernard
J. Piontek Funeral Home, Inc., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30
a.m. in Holy Rosary Church. The Rev. Charles Rokosz will officiate. Interment
will be in the parish cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m.
Thursday. VFW Post 1227 will conduct military services Friday morning .
